  • MATCH WAS SET UP TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE KANU HEART FOUNDATION, WHICH AIMS TO BUILD NEW CARDIAC CENTRE IN NIGERIA

Arsene Wenger was guest of honour at ex-Arsenal legend Kanu’s charity game, joining the player he managed for five years in order to help raise money for the Kanu Heart Foundation.

The Petrolex Kanu Cup in association with Masters FootballTM set out to raise money for the Kanu Heart Foundation and provide children in Africa with life-saving heart operations, with Wenger taking to the dug out one last time!

The game kicked off on Sunday 30th September 2018 at The Hive Stadium in Barnet, with Kanu teaming up with footballing stars from the Premier League and African football to help support the charity.

The Premier League Masters squad saw ex-players of Arsenal, Newcastle, Tottenham, Liverpool, West Ham and more. The team featured Jens Lehmann, Sol Campbell, Pascal Chimbonda, Phil Babb, William Gallas, Wes Brown, Steve McManaman, Jonathan Greening, David Thompson, Robert Pires and Louis Saha.

On the other side, the African Masters squad was a stellar line-up including players from Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City and Man United. They lined-up with Rami Shaaban, Lauren, Danny Shittu, Michael Essien, Eric Djemba Djemba, Mido, Yakubu, Lomana LuaLua, Daniel Amokachi and Peter Odemwingie.

The match finished 9-4 to the Premier League Masters – players on the score sheet included Robert Pires, Michael Essien, Yakubu, William Gallas and of course, Kanu himself!

It was indeed a gathering of Kind-hearted football masters with great prowess. Indeed a show of Kindness to Kanu Kids to support Kanu Heart foundation.
